With one look, I'm his...
With one touch, he's mine...
With one kiss, it changes everything between us...
I've been famous since I can remember. Singing, acting, dancing - I've done it all. The tabloids cover my every move, but I don't want that anymore. I want to be normal, whatever that is.
When I leave Hollywood for college in Vermont, I'm on my own for the first time in my life. This is my chance to figure out who I am and what I want in life.
But it's a lot harder than I expected. I can't escape my image. Classes are difficult, and I'm struggling. And then there's Caleb Fox.
Sexy, intriguing Caleb Fox.
Caleb is the one man who doesn't want to use me. He breaks down my walls. He challenges me. He wants me. And I just don't know if I can give him the same - or if he'll stick around when he finds out my shameful secret that the tabloids haven't managed to uncover.
Dating him is risky enough, but loving him could break me.
“… I also know that life can throw you curveballs.”
“And I’m your curveball?”
“Hailey.” His lips touch mine, a brief press that still manages to heat my system. “You’re so much more than that.”
After finishing a couple really intense books, Stay With Me was exactly what I needed. It was pretty light and fluffy. Sweet. There were no super-crazy plot twists that made me want to tear my hair out and, truthfully, not nearly as much angst as I thought there would be based on the blurb above. Being a New Adult novel, it also had some seriously steamy sexy-time. It’s summer and this is a perfect beach read.
The characters in this novel were great. I felt drawn into their lives immediately. They all felt so real. I could easily imagine them as my classmates when I was in college. Hailey was the type of female lead I really like. She wasn’t weak. She wasn’t whiny. As a performer, she didn’t have a childhood or young adulthood. She was at the mercy of her mother until she cut ties to go to college… and her mother was a real piece of work. I had very strong, not-so-pleasant feelings about her mother. I liked Caleb, but he didn’t have the pull that some NA male leads have. He started out really strong and sexy and somewhere along the way became just a little too whipped for my liking. There’s no denying the chemistry between Hailey and Caleb, though. I want Daphne to be my best friend. She was strong and spunky.
This is the first of Elyssa’s books I’ve read. I enjoyed it quite a bit. I can’t wait to see whose POV the next two books (and one novella!) are from. Fingers crossed for a Daphne/Nick book… and a Griff book. I’m dying to know more about him.
I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
