WWW Wednesday

Happy hump day, y’all! It’s time for a little midweek reading round up as I talk about what I’m currently reading, what I recently finished and what I’m waiting to read — either an upcoming release or a book from my TBR.

what are you currently reading

WWW Wednesday [62]Beard in Mind by Penny Reid
Series: Winston Brothers #4
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance
Publication date: August 2, 2017

All is fair in love and auto maintenance.

Beau Winston is the nicest, most accommodating guy in the world. Usually.

Handsome as the devil and twice as charismatic, Beau lives a charmed life as everyone's favorite Winston Brother. But since his twin decided to leave town, and his other brother hired a stunning human-porcupine hybrid as a replacement mechanic for their auto shop, Beau Winston's charmed life has gone to hell in a handbasket.

Shelly Sullivan is not nice and is never accommodating. Ever.
She mumbles to herself, but won't respond when asked a question. She glares at everyone, especially babies. She won't shake hands with or touch another person, but has no problems cuddling with a dog. And her damn parrot speaks only in curse words. Beau wants her gone. He wants her out of his auto shop, out of Tennessee, and out of his life.

The only problem is, learning why this porcupine wears her coat of spikes opens a Pandora's box of complexity--exquisite, tempting, heartbreaking complexity--and Beau Winston soon discovers being nice and accommodating might mean losing what matters most.

Confession: I haven’t actually started this one yet… but it’s first up in my queue as soon as I finish scheduling this post. But by the time you read this post, I will be well into this book and, if history is any indication, I’ll be loving it. This is my first book for the ARC August challenge, so I’m hoping it starts things off on a high note. I mean, it is Penny Reid after all… so it should.

WWW Wednesday [62]Finding Serenity by Eden Butler

Mollie Malone's mom skipped out on her. Her biker dad, always loose and easy with the law, still was able to make her feel loved, and to keep her safe. But thirteen years ago, when his luck finally ran out and he landed in prison, Mollie found herself a new family - a group of friends in the sleepy little college town of Cavanagh, Tennessee, where now they all attend the local university. These girls know about the rotten roots of her family tree but accept her anyway, and the bond between them is so strong and supportive that Mollie is finally able to see past graduation to a future that is bright and secure.

But sometimes the past doesn't stay buried.

Suddenly, inexplicably, there's a shadow behind every step Mollie takes. Someone is lurking in that shadow, threatening not only Mollie, but also the new family she has claimed for herself.

And it isn’t just the past that has Mollie’s life in upheaval. Hunky former Marine Vaughn Winchester - who Mollie really would like to get to know much better - thinks Mollie is just a kid; he's made it clear she wouldn't ever be able to understand the demons haunting him. But if that's what he believes, then why does he keep sticking his nose in her business? And if he thinks she’s such a kid, why does he keep trying to kiss her?

Vaughn’s mind games are frustrating, especially since Mollie knows enough about secrets to be convinced that there's something he isn’t telling her, something he's so far been able to keep hidden. But when that secret is revealed, Mollie is forced into a situation that tests her loyalty and threatens even her closest friendships - just when the shadow of her past returns, and she's going to need them the most.

I’m enjoying Eden Butler’s Seeking Serenity series so very much! I love finding new-to-me authors. It makes me a little sad I haven’t been enjoying her books all along, but now I can binge and I can’t really complain about that. I wish I had time to read all of them back to back to back, but I’m kinda savoring them this way too.

Camille Marino has got a full plate. As the sole guardian of her eighteen-year-old sister and the head chef and owner of a food truck, she’s used to life being a juggling act. With food to cook, social media accounts to manage, and a little sister to look after, she doesn’t have time for much else.

That is, until Drew Bautista walks back into her life.

Drew is Camille’s former high school crush and he returns to San Francisco to repair his relationship with his father before he ships out for deployment. By helping his father renovate his failing Filipino restaurant, he hopes to win back his respect. But when sparks fly between Drew and Camille—his father’s major competition and sworn enemy—Drew is conflicted. Should he join his father in the war against her food truck? Or surrender to the woman who’s given him a second chance at love?

I have heard SO MANY good things about this book, it kills me to think I’ve been sitting on an ARC of it for about two months now. I’m super excited to read this one… VERY soon.
